Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 15 February 2025

At moraviqolent, we're straight with you about data. Running a fundraising platform means handling sensitive information, and we take that seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why we need it, and what we do to keep it safe.

We're based in Sydney and operate under Australian privacy laws. That means the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles guide everything we do with your information.

1 Information We Collect

When you work with moraviqolent, we gather different types of information depending on how you use our platform. Startup founders need to share more details than someone just browsing our resources.

Personal Details

This covers the basics – your name, email, phone number, and business address. If you're applying for funding or creating a campaign, we'll need your Australian Business Number and sometimes proof of identity documents. Tax file numbers come up when there's a financial transaction involved.

Financial Information

Bank details, payment card numbers, and transaction history all fall here. We work with payment processors who handle most of this directly, but we keep records of what went through our platform. Business financial statements and pitch deck data get stored when you're raising funds.

Technical Data

Our systems log IP addresses, browser types, device information, and how you navigate through our site. Cookies track your preferences and login status. We use analytics to understand which features actually help people and which ones need work.

Communications

Emails, support tickets, phone calls, and chat messages all get saved. We need these records to provide proper service and sometimes to resolve disputes. If you attend one of our workshops or webinars, we might record those sessions too.

2 How We Use Your Information

We're not collecting data for fun. Every piece serves a purpose in running the platform or improving what we offer.

  • Processing fundraising campaigns and matching startups with potential investors
  • Verifying identities and conducting required compliance checks under Australian financial regulations
  • Sending updates about your campaigns, platform changes, or educational resources you've signed up for
  • Improving platform features based on how people actually use them
  • Preventing fraud, security breaches, and misuse of our services
  • Providing customer support when things go wrong or you have questions
  • Meeting legal obligations around financial transactions and business reporting
  • Analyzing trends in startup fundraising to create better educational content

Marketing Communications: We'll send you news about platform updates and educational resources if you've opted in. You can unsubscribe anytime through the link in emails or your account settings. We don't sell your email to third parties or spam you with irrelevant offers.

3 Data Storage and Security

Your data lives on Australian servers with enterprise-grade security. We use AWS Sydney region infrastructure with encryption both in transit and at rest. That's technical speak for "your information is locked down at every stage."

Security Measures

Two-factor authentication protects accounts. Payment information goes through PCI DSS compliant processors – we never store complete card numbers. Regular security audits catch vulnerabilities before they become problems. Staff access is restricted based on actual job requirements, not just handed out freely.

Data Retention

We keep information as long as your account stays active, plus seven years after that for financial records. Australian tax law requires us to maintain transaction data for that period. Support tickets get archived after three years. If you delete your account, most personal information disappears within 90 days, but we hang onto financial records for compliance reasons.

Data Type Retention Period Reason
Account Information Duration of account + 90 days Service provision and account recovery
Financial Records 7 years from transaction Australian tax law compliance
Support Communications 3 years Quality improvement and dispute resolution
Marketing Data Until opt-out + 30 days Preference management

4 Sharing Your Information

We're not in the business of selling your data. But running a fundraising platform means working with partners who need access to specific information.

Service Providers

Payment processors handle transactions. Email service providers send notifications. Cloud hosting companies store data. Analytics tools help us understand platform usage. These companies sign contracts limiting what they can do with your information.

Investors and Funders

When you create a fundraising campaign, potential investors see the information you choose to share. That's the whole point. We don't give them anything beyond what you've put in your public pitch or explicitly shared during due diligence.

Legal Requirements

Sometimes the law demands we hand over information. Court orders, regulatory requests from ASIC or AUSTRAC, and fraud investigations fall into this category. We'll notify you when legally permitted to do so.

International Transfers: While our primary servers are in Australia, some service providers operate globally. Payment processing might route through overseas systems. When data leaves Australia, we ensure adequate protections exist through standard contractual clauses or Privacy Shield equivalents.

5 Your Rights and Choices

Australian privacy law gives you real control over your information. These aren't just theoretical rights – we've built tools to make them practical.

  • Access your data anytime through your account dashboard or by requesting a complete copy
  • Correct inaccurate information directly in your profile or by contacting support
  • Delete your account and associated personal data, subject to legal retention requirements
  • Opt out of marketing emails while still receiving essential service notifications
  • Object to certain processing activities if they're not necessary for our service
  • Request data portability to move your information to another platform
  • Lodge complaints with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner if we've mishandled your data

Exercising Your Rights

Email privacy@moraviqolent.com with requests. We respond within 30 days, usually faster. Identity verification is required for security – we can't hand over account details to just anyone who asks. Some requests take longer if they're complex or involve archived data.

6 Cookies and Tracking

Cookies are small files that remember things about your visits. We use them for login sessions, preference storage, and understanding how people use the platform.

Essential Cookies

These make the site work. Login authentication, security features, and basic functionality all depend on essential cookies. You can't opt out of these without breaking the platform.

Analytics Cookies

We track page views, click patterns, and user journeys to improve the platform. Google Analytics provides most of this data. You can disable these through browser settings or our cookie preferences tool.

Third-Party Cookies

Payment processors and some embedded content set their own cookies. We don't control these, but we've vetted the providers we work with. Check their privacy policies for details on what they collect.

7 Changes to This Policy

Privacy practices evolve as regulations change and our platform grows. We'll update this policy when needed and notify active users by email at least 30 days before major changes take effect.

The "Last Updated" date at the top shows when we made the most recent modifications. Old versions get archived and available on request if you want to see what changed.

8 Children's Privacy

moraviqolent isn't designed for anyone under 18. Fundraising involves legal contracts and financial transactions that minors can't enter into. If we discover someone under 18 has created an account, we'll close it and delete their information.

Parents who believe their child has shared information with us should contact privacy@moraviqolent.com immediately so we can remove it.

Questions About Privacy?

If something in this policy isn't clear or you have concerns about how we handle your information, we want to hear from you.
