Who We Are
Building Better Fundraising Through Real Experience
We've been on both sides of the fundraising table. After years watching talented founders struggle with capital strategy, we built moraviqolent to share what actually works when raising money for startups in the Australian market.
Our Approach
Honest Guidance for Complex Decisions
Fundraising isn't something you learn from generic templates. Back in 2019, we started running small workshops because we kept meeting founders who'd been given terrible advice by people who'd never actually raised capital themselves.
The truth is, every fundraising situation has unique challenges. What worked for that SaaS company might not work for your marketplace. Angel investors evaluate differently than VCs. And Australian startup funding has its own quirks that US-focused advice often misses completely.
Real-World Perspective
We teach from experience, not theory. Every strategy we discuss has been tested by actual founders raising money in Sydney, Melbourne, and beyond.
Honest Expectations
Fundraising takes longer than you think and involves more rejection than anyone talks about. We help you prepare for the reality, not the fantasy version.
Long-Term Thinking
The cheapest money isn't always the best money. We help you understand how today's fundraising decisions affect your company years down the line.
Meet the Team
The People Behind moraviqolent
We're not consultants who learned fundraising from case studies. Both of us have raised capital, advised startups, and made our share of mistakes along the way.
Petra Lindqvist
Co-Founder & Head of Fundraising Strategy
Petra spent six years on the investment side before switching to work with founders. She's evaluated hundreds of pitches and knows exactly what investors look for beyond the surface pitch. These days, she runs our intensive workshops and one-on-one strategy sessions.
Callum Devereux
Co-Founder & Startup Finance Advisor
Callum raised three rounds for his own startup before exiting in 2021. He understands the stress of trying to close funding while running a company. He focuses on helping founders build financial models that actually make sense and tell the right story to investors.
We met at a startup event in 2018 and kept running into the same frustration. Founders were getting fundraising advice from people who'd never been through it themselves. Or worse, from overseas "experts" who didn't understand how Australian early-stage funding actually works.
So we started small. A monthly meetup where we'd walk through real pitch decks and financial models. No charge, just trying to help people avoid the mistakes we'd seen (and made). That grew into workshops, then longer programs, and eventually moraviqolent became our full-time focus.
What hasn't changed is our approach. We don't promise funding outcomes because nobody can guarantee that. What we can do is help you build a stronger strategy, understand what investors are really asking for, and prepare for a process that's harder than most people expect.
Common Questions
What You're Probably Wondering
These are the questions founders ask us most often when they're considering whether moraviqolent is right for them.
Do you help companies actually raise money, or just teach about fundraising?
We're educators and advisors, not fundraising agents. We help you build better strategy, create stronger materials, and understand what investors are looking for. We occasionally make introductions when it makes sense, but that's not the focus. Our job is giving you the knowledge and tools to run your own fundraising process effectively.
What stage should my startup be at before working with moraviqolent?
Most of our participants are preparing for their first institutional raise or planning a Series A. You should have some traction and a clear sense of what you're building. If you're still in the "validating the idea" phase, you're probably too early. If you've raised multiple rounds and have experienced finance leadership, you might not need what we offer.
How long does your typical program run?
Our main workshop series runs eight weeks with weekly sessions, starting September 2025 and March 2026. One-on-one advisory engagements are customized but usually span 3-6 months. And we offer intensive two-day sessions for founders who need concentrated help before beginning their fundraising process.
Do you work with companies outside of Sydney?
Absolutely. About half our participants join remotely from Melbourne, Brisbane, and other Australian cities. Our workshops work well online, and we schedule one-on-one sessions to accommodate different time zones. The fundraising landscape has regional differences, but the core principles we teach apply whether you're in Sydney or Perth.
What makes your approach different from other fundraising education?
Two things. First, we focus specifically on Australian early-stage fundraising, which has meaningful differences from US or European markets. Second, we've both actually done this. Petra evaluated deals as an investor. Callum raised money as a founder. We're not teaching from textbooks or second-hand knowledge.
